CAPTAINS PRIZE – LIAM HANSBURY

Save the date! Our Captains Prize kindly presented by Liam Hansbury will take place from Friday 31^st to Sunday 2^nd June.  The time sheet is now open for the Captains Prize and Captains Scramble, which is on Wednesday 29th May, shotgun start at 5.30pm. All information has been emailed to members.

CENTENARY TEA PARTY

To continue celebrations of our 100 years, we are having a Centenary Charity Tea Party on Thursday next, May 23rd at 3pm in the clubhouse.  Tea/coffee along with sandwiches and yummy cakes will be provided.  There is no charge for this event but we would be very grateful for cash donations to our charities of choice; namely the local RNLI and the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA). We are looking forward to a big attendance so please come and bring a friend.

OPEN BANK HOLIDAY SCRAMBLE

Our next bank holiday scramble will be on Monday June 3^rd. This is an Open 18H Champagne Scramble and is always a popular day – bookings are open online now!

CENTENARY BOOK ON SALE

Our Centenary book is selling well and thank you to everyone who has purchased to date. The book can be bought in the office, Pro Shop and Bar.

SENIOR MENS INTERTEAM TEAM

Our Senior Men’s Interclub team secured a victory in Round 3 of this regional competition. We played Faithlegg GC in Faithlegg on Wednesday of last week and came away with a 4&1/2 to a 1/2 win. We play the winner of Cobh v’s Gold Coast in Round 4. Round 4 must be played on or before 9th June. This team competition is for men aged 50+ and comprises 5 Fourball matches.

JB CARR TEAM

Our JB Carr team take on Faithlegg GC in the County Final. The first leg is in Dungarvan on Saturday, 25th May with a 3pm start. The second leg will take place in Faithlegg on Wednesday, 29th May commencing at 2pm. All support welcome. This event is for men aged 60+ and is Scotch Foursomes matchplay.

WOMENS MUNSTER TROPHY

Our Ladies team of Carmel O’Brien, Joanne Fitzgerald, Teresa Hayes, Bernie Lynch and Patricia Butler played Tramore in the 3^rd round in a home and away singles match at the weekend. Unfortunately, we were unlucky on the day and Tramore proved the stronger team. Best of luck to them in the next round. Thank you to the players, caddies and managers.

OPEN MIXED TEAM OF FOUR

We held an Open Centenary Mixed team of four competition last Friday and it proved very popular. Congratulations to winners Mary O’Donnell, Roger O’Connor, Mossie Walsh and Michael O’Brien (85pts) and 2^nd place Mike Horgan, Aisling Horgan, Antoinette Hrley & Theresa Guiry (79pts).

On Sunday 26^th we have a team of two competition whereby members play with a family member. As part of our centenary celebrations, we are holding a variety of competitions and encourage our members to get involved and enjoy a day out with family! Bookings are open online.

JUNIOR GOLF RESULTS

Our Junior team enjoyed a mixed weekend. In the Fred Daly we defeated Bandon away by a scoreline 4 – 1. We now progress to face Tramore in the area semi-final. Unfortunately, we were beaten by East Cork on ties in the Irish Junior foursomes, our boys played great golf but lost to a net birdie on the 2^nd tie hole. Thanks to James Hayes and Yvonne McKeown for transporting the team.

In other news junior coaching on Saturday continues to be great success. Thanks to Niamh, Alan, David, Liam for their invaluable contribution last Saturday. Any members who wish to help out with junior lessons on Saturdays and have a free hour from 3-4 please contact David Hayes.

If your child would like to join as a junior member, please contact the office as we have great joining rates of €70 for ages 6 – 12 and €100 for ages 13 -18 (plus €7 Golf Ireland Levy). Please email office@dungarvangolfclub.com for an application form. Children will have great fun at Dungarvan Golf Club, learn to play golf, make new friends and develop life skills. A reminder to our Junior members, that subscriptions for 2024 are due for payment.

ATEC 9H SUMMER SERIES

The Atec 9-hole summer series 2024 is a qualifying competition series for Ladies and Men. Again, this year the 9-hole competition is kindly sponsored by our Club Captain Liam Hansbury of ATEC. Ladies will play off red tees, men off green or white. The front nine (unless otherwise specified) will be in play. The format is slightly different this year. The nine-hole competition will run from Sunday to Saturday each week. It will commence on Monday 20th May and will run to the 28th of September. Full details on how the competition is run has been emailed to members.

LAUNCH OF LOTTO 6

If you purchase the annual €90.00 ticket for Lotto 6 on or before the 31^st May 2024 you will be eligible for a draw for the following:

We had a great day last Wednesday for our weekly competition and great scoring with the course in wonderful condition, well done ladies! 1^st Colette O’Mahony (25) 18pts, Patricia Butler (30) 18pts, 3^rd Ina Considine (24) 17pts.

60.COM

As usual we had a full timesheet for our 60.Com competition on Wednesday 15^th May. Despite heavy rain over previous days the course was in magnificent condition – well done to our course staff. The scoring was almost as good as the course with some terrific scores being returned. Results: 1^st Stephen Lynch 25pts, 2^nd John T Moloney 20pts. Stephen Lynch is in a hot streak of form at present as he won the previous week in our outing to Tipperary Golf Club. Well done Stephen. We have our second outing of 2024 to Cahir Golf Club on next Wednesday 22nd May. If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
This event is back on Friday after a break due to a lot of Centenary competitions. We play nine holes of Scotch Foursomes. It is social golf and great fun. If you are free just go online and book your place. We would love to see you join us.

GET INTO GOLF 2024

Last Tuesday evening was dull and damp and not very conducive for golf. However, David Hayes took our Get into Golf ladies to the putting green which they thoroughly enjoyed. Hopefully we will be back to the practice area this week.

LOTTO RESULTS
We had our weekly Lotto 6 draw today (Friday, 17th May). This was Week 1 of 52.
The numbers drawn were 1, 10, 18 and 22. The jackpot was €2,200, and there was no winner.
The jackpot is €2,300 for the next draw. We had four match 3 winners – Deirdre Dillon, Pat Fitzgerald, Glen Corbett and Damien Brennan – who each win €25. The next draw will take place on Friday, 24^th May at 3.30pm. Thank you to everyone who supports our Lotto. All funds raised are used to develop our course.
