OPEN CENTENARY SUMMER CLASSIC

We continue our Centenary celebrations by holding an Open Summer Classic which will run from Monday 15^th – Sunday 21^st July. Entry is €100 per team of 4 with re-entry €15pp. We have lots of great prizes including Best Overall, Ladies, Gents, Mixed and Daily Prize. GET INTO GOLF GALA NIGHT 2024
There was a great buzz in the clubhouse as our new golfers (men and women) gathered to hear about phase two of the Get into Golf programme. Their interest and enthusiasm was heartening and we are delighted with the numbers who have already signed on to participate. Thanks to David Hayes our PGA professional who attended our gala, to our hardworking Get into Golf committee who put all the preparations in place and to Tom, Chris and their hard-working staff in the bar who provided food on the night.
The Get into Golf practice will continue each Monday evening. The Lady Captain Kolette Enright will have a putting competition (specifically for Get into Golf 2024 men and women) during her Captains weekend. We will also run ‘refresher’ lessons in the Autumn to help our new golfers progress. We look forward to working with them over the coming months.

INDIA SMYTH FUNDRAISING RAFFLE

Thank you so much to everyone who supported our fundraising raffle for club member Michael Kelly’s granddaughter India Smyth. Beautiful three year old India is undergoing a cancer clinical trial in New York and funds are being raised to support their journey. Our members and friends of Dungarvan Golf Club have been so generous with their donations and purchasing of tickets. Congratulations to all the prize winners.

JB CARR TEAM

We took on Ballykisteen GC last week in a Munster Quarterfinal over two legs, home and away. The first leg on Tuesday was at home and it finished 2-3 in favour of Ballykisteen GC. 

That left us with a lot of work to do in the second leg last Friday. We made one change in personnel with PJ Kindregan coming in to the starting team.

The team gave an outstanding performance in Ballykisteen and we had a 4.5 to 0.5 win on the day. That left us with an overall win on a score of 6.5 to 3.5. We next meet Charleville GC in a Munster Semifinal. Again, it will be over two legs and the first leg will be away from home. Both legs must be completed on or before Sunday, 21st July.

BARTON SHIELD

Our Barton Shield were unfortunately beaten in their match 1-0 last Friday 28^th by West Waterford GC. We wish West Waterford the very best in the next round.

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

We welcome Juniors from many clubs to Dungarvan this Thursday 4^th July playing in the Junior Golf League. Best of luck to all our Juniors taking part.

Our Lessons continue on Saturday at 3pm. If your child would like to join as a junior member, please contact the office as we have great joining rates of €70 for ages 6 – 12 and €100 for ages 13 -18 (plus €7 Golf Ireland Levy). Please email office@dungarvangolfclub.com for an application form. Children will have great fun at Dungarvan Golf Club, learn to play golf, make new friends and develop life skills. A reminder to our junior members, that subscriptions for 2024 are due for payment.

We had no competition last Wednesday but are back this Wednesday 3^rd please book in online.

60.COM

We had no 60.com competition on Wednesday 26 June due to a very successful open week taking place. We will be back to our normal routine next week. If you’re interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

SOUTH MUNSTER SENIORS

We welcome the South Munster Seniors to our club on Wednesday 10^th July, there are still a few tee times available. This is the second visit of the year and always a popular competition for members and visitors.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES

Due to a very successful open fortnight we haven’t had our Friday Foursomes for some time. However, we are back on Friday July 5. Shotgun start at 9am and we play the back nine. No timesheet in operation. You simply turn up and we play nine holes of Scotch Foursomes. It is a very social event and a great way to integrate into our club.


GET INTO GOLF 9H QUALIFYING
This competition is specifically for Get into Golf ladies who have not yet reached a handicap of 36. We run it each Tuesday evening to help our Get into Golf ladies to get used to entering and playing in competitions. Results (Tuesday June 18) 1^st Mairead Flynn.


LOTTO RESULTS
We had our weekly Lotto 6 draw on Friday, 28th June. This was Week 7 of 52. The numbers drawn were 6, 15, 18 and 21. The jackpot was €2,400, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €2,500 for the next draw. We had two match 3 winners – Mary Phelan and Ann Heneberry & Joanne Lannen & Colette Power – who win €50 each. The next draw will take place on Friday 5^th July at 3.30pm. Thank you to everyone who supports our Lotto. All funds raised are used to develop our course.

CENTENARY BOOK ON SALE

Our Centenary book is selling well and thank you to everyone who has purchased to date. Our book is now on sale in Eason’s and David Walsh’s in Dungarvan. The book is €20 and contains wonderful photos and stories from the past 100 years.
