Our Open Centenary Autumn Classic was a great success! We had busy timesheets over the four days and also welcomed many societies. Thank you to sponsors SPAR for their continued support and generous sponsorship of this classic. We held three classic this year to celebrate our Centenary year and they were all very well supported by our members and lots of visitors. We thank everyone who entered, sponsored and supported us throughout this important year for our club.

INDIA SMYTH FUNDRAISING
A big thank you to all of you who supported the India Smyth fundraising initiative organized by Dungarvan Golf Club. Three events were organized – a 45-card drive, a raffle and a bridge night. These initiatives plus individual donations raised €12,180 for the fund. We are very grateful to all those who participated in the various events and also those who made direct donations. SEAMUS POWER VISIT
We welcomed PGA Pro Seamus Power to our club recently and our members were delighted to meet him. Thank you to Seamus for taking the time to visit and it was great to see so many junior members in the clubhouse for autographs!
E.P & ENA KIELY MEMORIAL
On Sunday Sept 22nd the E.P. Kiely and Ena Kiely memorial trophies competition will take place. This annual member event, with separate competitions for ladies and gents, kindly put up by the family in memory of two great members from the past is much appreciated by the club.
ANNUAL LEFT-HANDERS COMPETITION
The 49th Annual lefthanders competition for 2024 will be played on Thursday 26th, Friday 27th & Saturday 28th September. Competition is open to Ladies and Gentleman (Members only). Full details are posted in locker rooms.
WEEKLY SPAR QUALIFIER
Our weekly Spar Open Gents/Ladies qualifier returns this Friday 20th and tee times are available online. Week 11 qualifiers were Tom Goodall, Ann Stack and Damien Walsh (Waterford GC). The SPAR Final will be held on Sunday 13th October.

Congratulations to Carmel O’Brien who will represent Dungarvan in the final of the Silver Medal in Headfort Golf Club on October 2nd. The best of luck from everyone in Dungarvan Golf Club.
LADIES HOME ALLIANCE
The first round of the Home Alliance 2024-2025 takes place on Tuesday 8th and Friday/Saturday 11th/12th of October. The Home Alliance consists of 6 competitions that take place in conjunction with the regular Tuesday and Friday/Saturday competitions. There is also a Home Alliance Captain’s Day at the end of the season which will take place in April.We welcome all club members and particularly those who have not taken part in this event before to sign up. The entry fee is €20. Place your money in an envelope with your name and Home Alliance written on the outside and put the envelope in the press under the computer.The Closing Date for entries is Wednesday 2nd October. You must pay your fee by the closing date if you wish to take part in the Home Alliance Competition.

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS
A great turnout again for our junior coaching last Saturday. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well as learning a little about golf. Thanks to Alan, Liam and James for their invaluable assistance. Classes will continue until the end of September. Our first major of the season took place last Sunday 15th with the hosting of the Knocknagranagh Shield. Honours went to Rory McKeown winning on a countback from Cathal McKenna. Pre Junior honours went to Sean Queally. It was fantastic to see many pre juniors taking to the course for their first ever tournament. Sean took the honours on a countback from Ronan O’Donnell with 25 points. Next Sunday we host the Pennant Cup kindly sponsored by Mr John Lynch. We tee off from 2pm so please add your names to the timesheet in the appropriate competition. Any enquiries relating to junior activities please contact PRO David Hayes.
AUTUMN MIXED LEAGUE
The Autumn Mixed League will be a team competition and commence on Monday 7th October and run for ten weeks. Each team will be comprised of ladies and gents with at least one of either gender on each team. The league will play over the first nine holes of any ladies or gents competition in play over the ten-week period.
When entering a competition, a team member in addition to completing his/her scorecard will also complete a mixed league card and submit this card in the dedicated box in the entrance lobby of the clubhouse. The best four cards from four team members of each team will count towards the weekly scoring. The highest accumulated team score winning after ten weeks. In addition to team prizes there will be an individual prize for the highest scoring lady and the highest scoring gent. The closing date for entry is the 28th September. A draw for teams will be made on the 29th September. Please join in on this fun, competitive club team event.

Our Youngones filled the timesheet last Wednesday. Results from 11th Sept 1st Kate McNamara (32) 20pts, 2nd Mary French (28) 17pts. Date for the diary – our next outing is to New Ross Golf Club on Monday 23rd September.

Windy with showers were the “order of the day” for our 60.com competition on 11 September. As usual we had a full timesheet with some new members joining. The winners were: 1st Jim O’Mahony 19 pts, 2nd Mossie Walsh 19pts, 3rd Martin Landers 18 pts, 4th Craig Susdorf 18 pts. Next week we have our 6th and final outing of 2024 in Gowran Park Golf Club. If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.
FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMESWe had no foursomes last Friday due to our very successful Centenary Autumn Classic.We are back this Friday morning (Sept 20). If you are free and would like to join, just come to the clubhouse at 8.45am. No need to book. We play nine holes of Scotch Foursomes on the back nine. Shotgun start at 9am. It is a social event and an ideal way to meet others in the club. All are welcome.
Get into Golf Mixed Social ScrambleWe are holding a scramble to bring all our new golfers together and have a social evening. Members of the Get into Golf Committee will be present which will provide the Get into Golf members with an opportunity to ask questions. We also look forward to feedback on our Get into Golf programme which will help us make changes and continue to improve our programme. It will be followed by refreshments and presentation in the clubhouse later.
GET INTO GOLF 9H QUALIFYING COMPETITIONThis competition continues each Tuesday evening with a large entry. Winner – Carol Walsh 16 pts.
LADIES TRIP TO BALLYKISTEEN/TIPPERARY
Our Ladies are off to Ballykisteen and Tipperary Golf Clubs for their overnight trip this week. We hope everyone has a great time and the forecast looks fantastic!

LOTTO RESULTS
We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 13th. The numbers drawn were 11, 13, 19 and 20. The jackpot was €3,500, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €3,600 for the next draw. We had two match 3 winners – John Morgan and Jane Kiely – who each win €50. The next draw will take place on Friday 20th September at 3.30pm. Thank you to everyone who supports our Lotto. All funds raised are used to develop our course.
