MASTERS GLORY

It was nail biting stuff watching Rory McElroy win the Masters on Sunday night. Rory is the 2025 Masters champion and one of six players to ever capture the career Grand Slam. A storybook ending to a lifelong pursuit!  In his interview after he said “I have literally made my dreams come true today and I would say to every boy and girl believe in your dreams and if you work hard enough and if you put the effort in, that you can achieve anything you want”. Inspiring words for our Junior Golfers!

EASTER MONDAY SCRAMBLE

JUNIOR GOLF MEMBERSHIP

Junior Golf Lessons started back last Saturday and we were delighted with such a large crowd of over 40 eager juniors. Our Junior Convenor David Hayes and his committee have great plans for junior golf this year from lessons to on course practice and weekly competitions in the summer. If you have a child aged 6 and upwards who would like to try golf or improve their golf skills then Dungarvan Golf Club’s Junior Club is a great way to make friends and learn golf with our golf PRO David. Give us a call for an application form and join up for 2025. Age 6 – 12 is €82 and Age 13 – 18 €107 (includes €7 Golf Ireland membership fee).

CLARET JUG AT WEST WATERFORD GC

Our Captain was delighted to attend West Waterford Golf Club recently for the prestigious Claret Jug visit. It was a very special day for West Waterford GC and we were delighted to be involved.

JB CAR MATCH
We play Waterford GC in the first round of this year’s tournament on Friday, 18th April commencing at 2pm. It’s a home match in Dungarvan GC. All support is welcome.

GET INTO GOLF 2025
Our new group of ladies started their group lessons last Tuesday with David Hayes. We had one group at 11 am and the other later at 7 pm. They are a very enthusiastic group with a number of them to be seen practicing in the practice area later in the week. Our Get into Golf men (two groups again) begin their programme with David this Wednesday. It is amazing to see the interest in golf at the moment. We are already taking names for 2026!

BRIDGE NIGHT FUNDRAISER

We are holding a Bridge Night on Friday 9^th May at 7.30pm in the clubhouse. All are welcome to join us to raise funds for the installation of a much-needed lift for the clubhouse. Entry is €10pp with a raffle on the night. We hope you can spread the word and make this fundraiser very successful.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
We had ideal conditions, warm and sunny, for our foursomes last Friday. Consequently, we had a large turnout despite the early start! The foursomes are a real social event – nine holes of Scotch foursomes followed by a coffee and chat in the clubhouse later. Scoring was exceptionally close with a count back for second and third place.
Results: 1^st Jim O’Mahony and Marion Burke 33 ¼, 2^nd Les Ford and Paula Prendiville 33 ½ 3^rd John Morgan and Ellen Power 33 ½. We are back again this Friday. Shotgun start at 9 am. All are welcome.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE
Despite some cold April showers we still had a good number of participants for our scramble last Sunday. These scrambles are open to all members and indeed it was lovely to see a grandfather and his grandson join us for this social event last Sunday.

LADIES GET INTO GOLF QUALIFIER

Starting from Tuesday April 15th at 6pm – 6.30pm there will be a 9-hole qualifying Get Into Golf Competition for Get Into Golf Ladies who have a handicap. The timesheet is open so go online and book your place. This will take place each Tuesday evening and is a great way to improve your golf.

LOTTO RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto draw on 11^th April. The numbers drawn were 10, 21, 22 and 27.
The jackpot was €6,500, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €6,600 for the next draw.
We had four match 3 winners – Nollaig McCarthy, John Considine, PJ Carey and Aidan O Reilly who win €25 each. Thank you to everyone who supports our lotto. All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.
